Background to the Budget

The Background to the Budget aims to provide information on the factors that have influenced key budgetary decisions during the current financial year. It also provides analysis of economic performance and the implementation of the Government’s policy objectives. This report is prepared and published on a yearly basis by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development prior to the Budget speech.

It shows: economic performance; budget performance; government policy priorities; and the medium term budget outlook.
